Need a fix of good old fashioned traditional Hungarian diner time entertainment then look no further than Kéhli Vendéglo

Kehli VendegloThis traditional Hungarian restaurant is unusual in our round up in that it is relatively out of the way for most people but in reality it is well worth the short taxi ride across to the Buda side opposite the northern tip of Margaret island. We experienced some of the best service at this old-world restaurant and the atmosphere was just amazing: a 4 piece gypsy band moving from table to table complete with double bass player whose girth easily exceeded that of the instrument. A large part of Kehli’s menu is definitely not for the un-adventurous but for those who are you should check out their signature starter: huge veal bones served with toast and raw cloves of garlic on tooth picks – rub the garlic on the toast to taste then top with marrow scooped from the veal bone. Dangerous eating but what an experience! Kehli is very popular with the locals so reservations are essential.
