Thanks to modern science and research, we now know that you do not need 14 implants to replace a top or bottom jaw – but a smaller number of pegs with a bridge between them. If the bone is strong you might only need six – eight implants to support a whole jaw and sometimes you can get away with as few as four in the lower jaw, however when the bone is damaged and weakened by gum disease 8 – 10 dental implants are required to support a fixed restoration. In this case, the client’s bone structure was weak and therefore 10 conventional Camlog and 2 temporary Camlog implants were placed in the upper jaw with 2 sinus floor elevations to create sufficient bone in the left & right maxillary sinus area.
Here you can see the impression tray which was used after the dental implant uncovering.

Here you can see both upper and lower crowns/bridges finished at the laboratory. You can see that the restoration is made out of smaller bridge and single crown sections which can be replaced easily if it becomes necessary. The bite is carefully measured up and adjusted. Note the use of pink porcelain to disguise the gum line and is used to prevent overly elongated teeth.
The final restoration in place. Ceramic bonded bridges/crowns were used to provide an aesthetically pleasing look.
Realising that his teeth were weakened by gum disease our client opted for dental treatment in Hungary, which was achieved by 12 upper and 7 lower Camlog dental implants and 14 – 14 unit fixed porcelain fused to metal bridges.
